Literal translations

Today my son was elated. Earlier in the week he had placed a very special stone into his pants pocket and had forgotten about it. That is, until I had removed the offending object from the laundry, pitched it back out into the driveway and washed his grass-stained, faded blue jeans. He was crushed when he remembered that he’d left the stone in his pocket and didn’t find it in his freshly washed and neatly folded britches.
That’s where today’s excitement comes in:
